The snap-in installation method is genuinely fast, with installation speeds up to three times quicker than conventional concealed fixing. The 32mm tooth engagement in the clips gives it significantly more holding power than the pointed teeth of older metal clips, and the dovetail joiner keeps everything aligned without any run-out across long deck runs.

How does the Snap-Loc system actually work?
Once the clips are screwed to the joists, boards are laid by walking them into position. Your bodyweight pressing down on the board is enough to flex the clip teeth, which engage the groove on the underside of the board and snap into place — locking it in at the correct gap automatically.
What gap does the Snap-Loc system provide between boards?
It automatically maintains a consistent 6mm gap between every board across the whole deck. Because the spacing is built into the clip design, there's no measuring or adjusting required during installation.
How does the Snap-Loc compare to the traditional metal composite clips?
The engineered nylon construction is lighter, has no sharp edges and installed multiple boards at once. The 32mm tooth engagement gives significantly superior holding power compared to the two small pointed teeth on the traditional metal designs.
Can the Snap-Loc be used in coastal or poolside environments?
Yes. The engineered nylon construction won't corrode regardless of exposure to salt air, salt water or pool chemicals, making it suitable for installations in any environment where metal fasteners would otherwise be a concern.
Can I use these clips with Modwood Flame Shield decking in a bushfire zone?
No, not in bushfire attack level areas (BAL-12.5, BAL-19, BAL-29 and BAL-40). Modwood Flame Shield decking must be installed using traditional metal clips or screws rather than the Snap-Loc system. If you're building in a designated BAL zone, see our Modwood Flame Shield installation guide.
What fixings and adhesive are required?
Each clip requires nails/screws to fix to the joists. You'll also need any MS, SMX or Polyurethane- based outdoor adhesive. See installation guide for more info.
Does the Snap-Loc add any height to the substructure?
Yes, it adds 4.0mm to the height of the joist. This is worth accounting for in your framing calculations, particularly if you're matching deck height to an existing threshold or door level.
Is the Snap-Loc compatible with both timber and steel joists?
Yes. The clips can be fixed to either timber or steel joists. See the installation guide for specific fixing requirements.
