Description

137×23 Modwood Xtreme Guard is the premium end of the Modwood range โ€” a grooved, capped composite decking board engineered for homeowners and commercial builders who want the best possible protection without sacrificing aesthetics. The standout feature is the full four-face cap, which wraps every side of the board in a high-performance protective layer.

Key Features of Modwood Xtreme Guard Grooved Decking

  • P5 slip resistance to AS 4586:2013 – ideal for pool surrounds, wet areas and commercial decks
  • Full four-face capping for all-round protection against stains, moisture and fading
  • Made from up to 90% recycled or reclaimed materials
  • Australian-made, owned and designed

Why choose Modwood Xtreme Guard?
If you’ve had timber decks before, you’ll know the routine; sand, oil, seal, repeat. Xtreme Guard cuts all of that out. The capped composite construction means the board surface resists everything from poolside splashes to cooking oils and UV exposure, and it holds its colour far longer than standard composite boards.

FAQs

What is the difference between grooved and solid Xtreme Guard boards?
On the grooved boards, the side edges feature a divot that is used to install the board on a hidden fixing system like KlevaKlip Snap-Loc. The solid boards feature straight side edges - they are used along the outer edges of a deck where last board is visible from the side.

Do both solid and grooved boards have the same surface finish?
Yes. Both feature the same deep embossed natural wood grain surface and are available in the same colour range.

What fixing system should I use to install?
Either the Modwood coloured head screws or KlevaKlip concealed fixing system are suitable. Non compliance of fixing instructionsย will void warranty.

Can I use this board around a pool?
Yes. The P5 rating makes it a strong choice for pool surrounds, wet areas and any application where slip resistance is a priority.

What is composite board capping and why does it matter?
Xtreme Guard boards have a protective cap applied to all four faces of the board. This capping adds extra protection against fading, staining, mould and mildew. It makes the boards more durable in tough conditions.

How does Xtreme Guard differ from the standard Modwood range?
The standard Modwood boards have an uncapped profile. Xtreme Guard's 360ยฐ capping provides a higher level of protection and is better suited to full-sun, high-traffic or exposed environments.

What's the slip resistance rating?
Xtreme Guard is manufactured to a P5 slip resistance (AS 4586:2013), which is the highest achievable level. This makes them suitable for wet surfaces like around pools and commercial decking applications.

Does I need to maintain composite decking?
Short answer: no. A regular sweep and occasional wash-down is all. Because of the capped surface, it's more resistant to staining than uncapped composite decking.

What are the recommended joist spacings?
You should leave up to a maximum of 450mm between joist centres for residential applications.
