FAQs

What is the difference between Xtreme Guard Solid and Grooved boards?
On the grooved boards, the side edges feature a divot that is used to install the board on a hidden fixing system like KlevaKlip Snap-Loc. The solid boards feature straight side edges - they are used along the outer edges of a deck where last board is visible from the side.

What is composite board capping and why does it matter?
Xtreme Guard boards have a protective cap applied to all four faces of the board. This capping adds extra protection against fading, staining, mould and mildew. It makes the boards more durable in tough conditions.

How does Xtreme Guard differ from the standard Modwood range?
The standard Modwood boards have an uncapped profile. Xtreme Guard's 360° capping provides a higher level of protection and is better suited to full-sun, high-traffic or exposed environments.

What's the slip resistance rating?
Xtreme Guard is manufactured to a P5 slip resistance (AS 4586:2013), which is the highest achievable level. This makes them suitable for wet surfaces like around pools and commercial decking applications.

Does I need to maintain composite decking?
Short answer: no. A regular sweep and occasional wash-down is all. Because of the capped surface, it's more resistant to staining than uncapped composite decking.

What fixing system should I use to install?
Use the coloured head screws for fixing solid Xtreme Guard boards to your deck frame.

What are the recommended joist spacings?
You should leave up to a maximum of 450mm between joist centres for residential applications.
