Why choose Modwood composite decking?
Composite decking won’t warp, crack or splinter under normal conditions. They don’t need sanding, sealing or painting to keep their colour and aesthetics.
As a part of the standard ModWood decking range – these boards are not fully capped and may weather over time due to the wood content inside the boards. This means that similarly to timber decking, the boards could grey over a long time span (many years). For a fully capped composite board that won’t fade – choose the Xtreme Guard Modwood Decking.

What's the difference between this and the 88mm boards?
The only difference is size, and the aesthetic it offers your project. The 137mm wide board has a broader face.
What is Modwood composite decking made from?
Up to 90% of the materials in Modwood decking is recycled or reclaimed; a blend of recycled plantation pine and recycled plastic. No harmful chemicals are used, so there's nothing to leach into the soil or surrounding environment.
Do I need to need oil, stain or seal the boards?
No. Unlike traditional timber, Modwood needs no oiling, staining or sealing. A periodic wash-down is all that's required to keep it looking good.
Can I use composite decking around a pool?
Yes, the 88x23 Modwood boards carry an R11 anti-slip rating graded to Australian standard AS 4586:2013.
What are the recommended joist spacings?
You should leave up to a maximum of 450mm between joist centres for residential applications.
Can i use them for screening?
Yes. These boards can be fixed vertically, making them a great option for garden edging and screening. Since the capping covers all 4 sides, a screening project with Modwood will look great from all sides / angles.
Will composite decking warp, crack or splinter?
No. Modwood is warranted against warping, cracking and splintering under normal conditions. It's also splinter-free, which makes it a safe choice around kids and bare feet. Non compliance of fixing instructions will void warranty.
What fixing system should I use to install Modwood?
Either the Modwood coloured head screws or KlevaKlip concealed fixing system are suitable. Non compliance ofย fixing instructionsย will void warranty.
Is Modwood decking eco-friendly?
Yes. Modwood is manufactured in Australia using recycled and reclaimed materials. It's also Global GreenTag certified.
