Description

QCoat Deck Oil is an oil-based penetrating timber finish developed and manufactured in Australia, formulated specifically for outdoor timber exposed to the elements. It’s lightly tinted with UV stabilisers to enhance natural timber colour while helping slow the greying process that comes with sun and weathering.

Key Features of QCoat Deck Oil

  • Oil-based formula
  • Contains UV stabilisers
  • Suitable for all treated pine / hardwood species
  • Designed for decks, boardwalks, jetties, fences, bollards and outdoor furniture

Why Choose QCoat Deck Oil?
A lot of deck finishes look great on day one but start letting you down within a couple of months: cracking, peeling or requiring a full sand-back before you can recoat. QCoat sidesteps all of that by penetrating the timber rather than forming a film on top. Because there’s no surface coating to fail, maintenance is simple: clean the surface and recoat when needed. It’s one of the few oils suitable for both treated pine and hardwoods. Made in Australia and formulated for Australian conditions, it’s a practical, no-fuss choice for anyone who wants their outdoor timber to last.

FAQs

What should I use a penetrating timber oil for?
Use QCoat Timber Oil on decks, boardwalks, jetties, fences, bollards and outdoor furniture across all timber species.

Can I use QCoat on treated pine?
Yes. QCoat is suitable for treated pine as well as all hardwood species, so it works across most outdoor timber applications.

Do I need to let new timber weather before applying QCoat?
No. Unlike some finishes, QCoat doesn't require a pre-weathering period. You can apply it to new timber without preparation.

Will this timber oil crack or peel?
No. Because QCoat penetrates the timber rather than forming a surface film, there's nothing to crack or peel. This is one of the main advantages over water-based coatings.

How often should I re-oil?
Clean the surface and recoat when the timber starts to look dry or loses water repellence. If you project is outside, this will most likely be every 6 months.

Is QCoat oil-based or water-based?
QCoat is oil-based. This gives it better penetration into the timber and stronger water repellence than most water-based alternatives.

How many coats of QCoat do I need to apply?
This can vary depending on timber species, porosity and condition. However, a good rule of thumb is two coats with at least 6 - 8 hours drying time between.

Does QCoat change the colour of the timber?
QCoat is lightly tinted with UV stabilisers, so it will slightly enhance the natural colour of the timber rather than leaving it completely clear. It won't dramatically change the look, but the colour may appear darker when the oil is freshest.
