Hardwood

Hardwood can be used for most structural applications. It is also popular for timber decking, timber flooring and cladding. Different hardwoods have different textures, treatments, grains and colours. Some are more “workable” than others, especially with hand tools. Varieties include: merbau, blackbutt, Australian beech, ironbark, spotted gum and red ironbark. We also carry CCA treated softwood.

Softwood

Softwoods are used mainly for structural applications. Plantation softwood in Australia grows quickly, storing huge amounts of carbon and releasing oxygen into the environment. When softwood trees are harvested, they are replanted, providing a sustainable forestry model in which the new trees store even more carbon and release more oxygen into the environment.

CCA treated pine is popular for timber fencing. We also carry unseasoned sawn pine, structural pine framing, western red cedar and slash, radiata and hoop cypress.
